Its a five stare great place to relax and very quite place to do work and study but at 2:40 kids from amd come and ruin and take over and get less quite but after love it there but the kids on school days gives it one stare but on the weekends are the best no kids and it gets really quite you feel like home

Magnificent architecture with panoramic views of the Hudson from the top floor. Helpful staff. Lots of quiet nooks for reading. Plus, they have a lecture theatre which you can rent for a small fee. My local library. Love it!!!!

OPL receives 5 star review up until 3pm. After 3 until the teens leave? Barely a one star. Its a convenient baby-sitting spot for working parents.

The OPL is an awesome library up until about 3pm every day; 5 stars. Its well managed , well maintained and contains a great staff of friendly folks dedicated to the job.

No doubt the teen's parents think their sons and daughters are at the library doing what? Homework? Reading? Studying? Not even close. Parents, come sit and listen and watch.

Very knowledgeable and helpful. Great place.

However, come 3pm every school day, things decline rapidly. The second floor turns into a latch key junior high school meeting spot. For over a year, the same kids show up; and yell and laugh and clown in their own private room by the rest room. The noise can be heard throughout the second floor and beyond where visitors at the tables are trying to read, or work, or concentrate on both. Impossible to do with this loud distraction.

But what is the point of having cell phone limitations and noise control among the tables in the reading rooms if there is zero adherence to any type of quiet whatsoever by the latch key teens in their own private meeting room? Limit cell phone use to the cafe level? Really?

Sadly, no one from the library intervenes. My observation over the past year, is the staff has given up. A rock and a hard place.

Has a calendar full activities which create and encourage community.
